Meet our Team

What procedures are done with laser dentistry?

Woman smiling in dental chairAt Sabino Hills Family Dentistry, Dr. Michael Allen and our team pride themselves on their commitment to stay current with the latest in dental treatments, techniques, and state-of-the-art technology. We believe that investing our time this way is an investment in you and your optimal oral health.

One area where we have seen a lot of progress is laser dentistry. Dental lasers work like any other laser – they use a focused beam of light that’s directed at the area in your mouth to be treated.

Laser Uses in Dentistry

Our soft laser is versatile, and one area where it is especially beneficial is in treating gum disease. After a deep periodontal cleaning, the laser can be used to remove infected material from pockets around your teeth comfortably.

Another procedure is typically used for kids and is called a frenectomy to resolve a problem known as a “tongue-tie.” Dental lasers can also be used to remove herpetic sores and relieve the pain of canker sores. We can even use lasers for gum contouring, an esthetic procedure that removes excess gum tissue to make your teeth appear longer.
