Invisalign Clear Aligners
What is Invisalign and how does it work
Invisalign aligners offer a discreet way to address many orthodontic problems that were traditionally corrected with traditional metal braces.
Every few weeks, you’ll come in to our office to receive your next set of aligners. Each set will feel tight at first as your teeth continue to adjust to the final alignment, but it’s important to continue to wear them for at least 22 hours a day for optimal results. Leaving them out for too long can cause problems and extend your treatment.
How long does Invisalign take to work?
Most adults will need to wear their Invisalign aligners for twelve months, though this ranges from person to person. If you’ve had braces before and you’re just looking to correct slight shifting, your treatment will generally take less time than an adult who has more extensive needs. Also, since Invisalign aligners are clear and conform closely to the shape of your teeth, most people won’t notice you’re wearing them.
How do you take care of your Invisalign aligners?
The easiest way to make sure you don’t destroy or lose your aligners is to keep them in your mouth! You can take them out when you are eating or brushing your teeth, but even with that, sometimes saliva and bacteria make your aligners feel less clean. So we recommend the following to care for your aligners:
- Rinse aligners with room temperature/lukewarm water
- Brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and a gentle toothpaste
- Rinse them again and inspect for any cloudiness or discoloration
- If you see buildup, soak your retainers in denture solution according to instructions
PowerProx Six Month Braces
What is PowerProx Six Month Braces?
PowerProx Six Month Braces is an orthodontic system that utilizes modern technology to move your front teeth into a straighter, more aligned location. It is geared towards adults who have minor misalignments rather than children, teenagers, or adults who need more comprehensive and involved orthodontic treatment.
Who benefits from Six Month Braces?
Traditional orthodontics address significant alignment problems that can take years to correct. However, we’ve found that the majority of adults have only slight tooth misalignment and don’t need to have their bite adjusted. By concentrating only on the teeth that show when you smile, we can straighten your teeth comfortably in as little as six months.
Are Six Month Braces invisible and removable?
While Six Month Braces are tooth-colored and very small, they are attached to your teeth for the duration of treatment. Your teeth are moved gently, so there’s little discomfort and treatment generally lasts four to nine months, with average treatments being six months. We believe it’s a small time period to spend to have straighter teeth!
What do Six Month braces cost?
The cost depends on the amount of time your treatment lasts and how many appointments you will need during that time. Since treatment time is shorter than traditional braces, the cost is usually less. At your initial consultation, we’ll examine your smile and come up with a plan that addresses your individual needs as well as a cost estimate.
What are Inman Aligners?
Inman Aligners are a removable orthodontic treatment that offers another discreet method for correcting the alignment of crooked or crowded teeth that show when you smile. Dr. Allen is the only dentist in Tucson who’s certified to use Inman Aligners, and they’re the only removable orthodontic treatment that can straighten teeth in a matter of weeks.
The patented aligners are placed on the inside and outside of your front teeth, creating a gentle, opposing force. The inner aligner pushes your teeth gently forward while the outer aligner gently pushes the teeth back. This unique action gradually guides your teeth into a beautiful, straight smile.

Do you offer traditional braces?
Yes! For some people, traditional braces are the best option. Modern orthodontics is much less invasive and obvious than ortho in the past. So if traditional, metal braces are your best option, know that we have many options to make it less noticeable, including ceramic braces and clear brackets.
Are metal braces my only option?
If your teeth are severely misaligned or you have a problem with the way your upper and lower jaw meet (malocclusion), traditional silver or ceramic braces will usually provide the best results. But you don’t have to worry about living with an unattractive mouthful of metal. Even traditional orthodontics have seen amazing improvements in recent years, making them less conspicuous and more comfortable to wear.
How long will I have to wear metal braces?
Just like all orthodontic treatment, that answer depends on your individual needs. For major treatments, where we have to shift the majority of the teeth, it can take a few years to achieve the desired results. Most cases are about two years or less, though.
While many children and teens elect to have different colored bands around their brackets, many adult patients are choose clear or tooth-colored brackets. This gives a more subtle appearance for those who prefer it.
How do you take care of your teeth with metal braces?
You’ll need to make sure you brush and floss regularly with braces. Use a soft bristled toothbrush with your toothpaste, making sure you cover all edges of the brackets and under your wires. We also recommend against using a whitening toothpaste during your treatment, as it can cause some discoloration once the brackets have been removed.
Flossing is also important. We know it’s harder to do with wires and brackets, so we’re happy to show you ways to work around them to make sure you’re still able to floss. There are special tools that may be able to help, including the Waterpik and a flexible “needle” that you can thread your floss through.
What happens at my consultation?
During your consultation, you’ll discuss your goals and needs with Dr. Allen. He’ll be able to perform an exam, take x-rays, and discuss what he identifies as your best suited treatment. We’ll also take a mold of your teeth to make a model of what your teeth alignment looks like. It’s a painless procedure that takes just a few minutes.
We can also talk about different options and the pros and cons of each for your specific instance. We’ll also go over different factors in your treatment, including timelines, budget, and lifestyle differences that may influence your best option.
How do I know which option is best for me?
We can help you decide what your best option is based on your needs, goals, and budget. We want to make sure that no matter what option you end up going with, you are comfortable and confident that we are helping you achieve the smile you want.
Do you offer financing?
