Preventative Care in Tucson, AZ

Preventative Care Tucson AZDo you look at someone with a beautiful smile and wish yours looked as bright and healthy? Enjoying excellent oral health doesn’t necessarily require years of extensive treatment. At Sabino Hills Dentistry, we’re skilled in handling a wide variety of dental problems. But in truth, we’d rather you didn’t ever need these advanced treatments.

So how can we help you get there? If you’re truly committed to a healthier smile, preventative treatments are the best place to start.

Healthy Teeth Contribute to Overall Health

We understand that, for some people, receiving dental care is a challenge. But we’ve found that helping our patients understand the importance of a healthy smile can be great motivation for staying current with dental visits.

We’re learning more every day about the connection between the health of the mouth and our overall health. If you suffer from chronic decay and gum disease, you put yourself at greater risk for serious health concerns like heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory disease.

In fact, a recent study by the American Academy of Periodontology found that patients with advanced stages of gum disease are twice as likely to contract heart disease as those who don’t have gum disease. Talk about motivation to stay current with dental visits!

Tucson Preventative DentistryRoutine Professional Dental Cleanings

The food and beverages you consume during the day stick to the surfaces of your teeth, creating plaque. Plaque coats tooth enamel, and if not removed, can lead to gum disease. Of course you need to do your part by maintaining proper oral hygiene, but even your best efforts can’t eliminate plaque completely.

You may not know that plaque buildup exists on your teeth until you have a dental problem. But twice-yearly professional cleanings allow our hygienist to monitor your oral health by checking your gums and removing any plaque. If we do find signs of gum disease, we’ll develop a treatment plan to get your oral health back on track.

Regular Dental Checkups

Comprehensive dental exams are just as important as dental cleanings. During your regular checkups, Dr. Allen will look for any underlying issues and address them before they create more serious problems in the future.

Daily Oral Hygiene

If you’re not sure which oral hygiene products will be most effective for maintaining your oral health, our dental hygienist will be happy to guide you. There is no doubt that diligent at-home oral hygiene is one of the most effective and least expensive ways to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Fluoride Treatment

Dental Cleanings in Tucson AZFluoride is important for keeping your family's teeth healthy and strong. You may already receive enough fluoride through other sources like toothpaste and mouth rinses; if not, we can supplement this with topical applications at our Tuscon dental office.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a thin coating of plastic material applied to the uneven surfaces of back teeth, which are most likely to develop cavities. Sealants are perfect for kids because their teeth are usually still healthy and protecting them with sealants will help keep them that way.
